The next/previous buttons on picture viewing pages have been enlarged to 400% when the pages is being viewed on an iPhone or iPod Touch. This makes it much easier to select the buttons on your touchscreen without having to zoom in on the page.

Thumbnails were not properly cropped before today, they were just stretched to a square shape on the gallery display page as you can see here: http://putpic.com/gallery/3922/2925370.
Now all image thumbnails are cropped so that the gallery page will display more neatly without skewing the images. This change only applies to newly uploaded galleries, as you can see here: http://www.putpic.com/gallery/3942/2306796.
This new thumbnailing method applies to all the upload methods (simple upload, java upload, zip upload). If you experience any troubles or find any bugs please do send your feedback to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Facebook users can now add comments to gallery and image pages, as you can see here: http://putpic.com/image/46394/2925370.
In the future hopefully we can add some sort of “ownership” setting to galleries so that if you’re logged into facebook when you create a gallery you automatically become the comment administrator for that gallery (and receive comment notifications). In the meantime please report any comment abuse with details of the URL to email@example.com.
As always, please send any feedback to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Users may of experienced errors whilst uploading photos and using quotes (“) or apostrophes (‘) in their titles or descriptions, this bug has now been fixed.
Apologies for the inconvenience that this bug may of caused. I am always looking to improve the site, if you find any errors or have any suggestions please do leave a comment or send me an email (email@example.com).
Further to the last post about a DNS outage the site is back online. If you are experiencing issues viewing the site this is most likely due to your ISP caching our old DNS data, and all should be back to normal within 24 hours.
Again, my apologies for this outage. Steps have been taken to prevent such an outage in the future.
Due to a DNS outage the putpic site is currently unavailable for some users. We have changed out primary DNS provider, and will be adding a backup provider to prevent this from happening again in the future.
Apologies for the downtime, this should be resolved by the end of the day.
I have added a “simple uploader”, for those who don’t want to use the java/activex upload tool. This new tool allows multiple photo uploads and displays an upload progress bar.
I have quickly updated the homepage to display the 3 upload methods (simple, java, zip). I realize that no awards will be received for the design, if you can do better then please feel free to email me a design.
Also, I have added target=”_blank” to the HTML code provided for embedding, so that when you embed images and your site visitors click on them they will see the image in a new page, rather than leaving your site.
If you have any problems with the new upload tool please do let me know.
The old (only a week old!) zip file upload process has been updated to include an upload progress bar.
The zip file upload process is now split over two pages, enter your gallery details on the first page, click continue, and then upload your zip file on the 2nd page. The 2 pages per upload is a bit of a pain, I know, but it is the best way to implement an upload progress bar.
Hope this helps, if you have any troubles with the new process then please let me know!
Welcome to the PutPic.com development blog!
Here I will post details about site updates, new features, and service status in the event of any unexpected downtime.
At current the site provides free photo hosting with two methods of upload; the upload tool and a zip file upload feature.
I, Stuart, am the site creator/programmer/admin, if you have any questions please feel free to comment on the relevant blog post or send me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
